David,
Is there by chance a way to change the modeller pointer to be small like
the pre-release version ? I really liked that sized pointer.

All:
Brad Peebler told me that after Sunday I could say anything I wanted about
LW
5.0's new features. What follows is an excerpt from the 5.0 manual.
Have fun,

WHAT'S NEW IN LIGHTWAVE 5.0
Users of previous versions of LightWave 3D will find many exciting new
features in the program. Below is a brief description of the most important
additions. Please refer to the appropriate section of the Reference Manual
and User Guide for a full description of these new features.
Plug-ins
LightWave now ships with over 50 plug-in files (these end with a ".p"
extension) giving you over _100_ user-executable plug-ins on the various
pop-up menus. There are also two new plug-in classes in Layout: Pixel
Filter,
and Special Buffer.
OpenGL
OpenGL now gives you real-time shaded object previews in both Layout and
Modeler. These previews show the surface color, smoothing, diffusion,
specularity, luminosity, and outline only attributes. In Layout, they can be
lit by as many as eight lights of any light type.
MetaMation animation system
LightWave 5.0 introduces an advanced animation system called MetaMation.
This
system consists of the plug-in files Metamate.p for Layout and Metaform.p
for
Modeler. Together, these plug-ins make natural-looking character animation
easy by giving you the ability to animate a simplified versions of complex
objects. See the plug-in documentation of "MetaFormPlus" and
"Metaform_Shaper
and Metaform_Target" for details.
Improved IK capabilities
Inverse Kinematics now has active goals and goal weighting, so you can
animate goals and simulate joint friction. Bones now include joint
compensation and muscle flexing to give increased realism to object
deformation.
MetaNurbs and MetaBalls
MetaNurbs combines the ease of polygonal modeling with the power of Nurbs
modeling. Metaballs makes organic modeling easy by allowing you to
"rough-out" a shape with metaballs, then apply one plug-in to create a
smooth, natural shape.
Data sharing between Layout and Modeler
Video Toaster users will be familiar with the convenience of importing and
exporting objects between Layout and Modeler. This capability has been
reinstated in the stand-alone version of LightWave.
Improved lens flare options
New lens flares adjustments include central ring color and size, and star
filter enhancements.
Surfacing
The most exciting change to come to surfacing is the ability to layer any
number (up to the limits of RAM) of textures of the same type on one
surface.
For example, you can stack 10 different Surface Color Texture Maps on the
same surface. Antialiasing strength is now adjustable for image maps and
Alpha Image thumbnails and tiling controls have been added to Texture Map
Panels. Also, surfaces can now be edited in Modeler.
Other additions
There have been several improvements to the interface, such as faster redraw
for wireframes, tablet support, color swatches in RGB fields, autoKey create
mode, and interactive camera zoom and spotlight cone angle adjustments.
Other
additions include: a Cel-look feature, new spline modeling tools, the
ability
to project images with lights, randomization for Bevel and Array, the
addition of TrueType font support, a Render Sample cube, and a lasso zoom
